Paul Foster has been part of the Cathedral staff since 2004. He lectures at the University of Edinburgh, in the School of Divinity, where he teaches New Testament. His areas of specialism include the Gospel of Matthew, the Non-Canonical Gospels, studying the literary relationship between Gospels, and investigating early manuscripts of the texts that make up the New Testament. He has written various books and articles on these topics, including The Apocryphal Gospels – A Very Short Introduction (OUP, 2009). However, most of his books are very dull! Paul has helped with the training of clergy through his role as New Testament tutor for the Theological Institute of the Scottish Episcopal Church, as well as serving on the Doctrine Committee. In his spare time Paul is a warden at the University’s residential halls – looking after nearly four hundred 18 years olds. Life is never boring!
