 APPOINTMENT OF VICE-PROVOST

The Revd Dr Mark Harris, currently Chaplain of Oriel College, Oxford, has been appointed. He is married to Harriet, also a priest, and currently Chaplain of Wadham College, Oxford, and they have 4 small children (Ben aged 8, Isaac 6, Reuben 5 and Susanna 2). They are very excited about moving to Edinburgh. Mark starts on Ash Wednesday 2010.

 

QUILTS

Inspired by St Mary’s

In August the exhibition "Joy of Creation" displayed a wonderful selection of quilts, and prompted this competition of quilts.

The longest side is a maximum of 24 inches.  Quilt is to consist of at least 3 layers of fabric joined together by stitch.  All entries are to be accompanied by a cheque for £5 made payable to ‘Thistle Quilters’. All entries must have a fabric label sewn on the back giving the name of the quilt and the name and address of the maker.All quilts are to have 2 small curtain rings attached to the back of the top corners for hanging purposes.   These rings should not be visible from the front.All entries are to be the work of a single person, i.e. no joint or group entries.  All entries must be received by 1st April 2010

A New Deacon

 Nicki McNelly was made deacon by Bishop Brian in the Cathedral on Sunday 14 June
